It is typical of most of the rest in that it shows the current driver to date back as far as 2006. The attachment shows the first driver in that list of 73. I have not installed any of these drivers, as yet. It found 89, 73 of which were available without me upgrading to the Pro version. I let the software scan for out of date drivers. While I am a little cautious about downloading drivers from these 'driver specialist' sites, I created a restore point and downloaded and installed software from one of the more 'prominent' vendors. The SATA chipset drivers it uses by default is the Microsoft Standard SATA AHCI Controller (dated June 21, 2006).Įssentially, having the AMD SATA chipset driver was the nail in the coffin preventing a Windows 10 upgrade. HDD light would remain on solid, and would stay that way forever if I let it. Later tonight, I might just install a clean install of Windows 10 on the SSD to validate the theory that the old Win 7 chipset drivers are the problem. However, any SSD I clone the C drive perpetually hangs intermittently with event logs reporting the controller being non-responsive (I suspect a bug with IO flooding or TRIM commands not being taken over AHCI ). Its not the OS, rather the install apps that I need to preserve. Theres some legacy applications that are registered and configured.
